The following information aims to provide applicants with an understanding of Australia Awards Fiji and Tuvalu’s selection process.
All applications are considered on merit and in competition, providing equal opportunity to all applicants.
Late applications will not be accepted.
Eligibility check
All applications will undergo an eligibility check against the global Australia Awards criteria and specific country criteria. Please ensure you meet these criteria before commencing your application. Note the priority sectors and country specific criteria are reviewed and may change each year. If you have any questions or concerns about your eligibility, please contact Australia Awards.
Compliance check
All applications will also undergo a compliance check to ensure all necessary documents are submitted and certified by an authorized person, at one of the following:
- The official records department of the institution that originally issues the document/s, or
- An Australian overseas diplomatic mission, or
- A notary public.
Applications may be deemed ineligible if they do not meet the requirements.

Assessment & ranking
Eligible applicants will progress to the next stage and undergo an independent assessment and scoring process. Assessments will be undertaken in line with the global criteria:
- academic competence,
- personal and professional qualities and
- most importantly, their potential to impact on development challenges in their home country.
Shortlisted
Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an individual interview with a Panel consisting of representatives from the Government of Australia and Fiji/Tuvalu.
Shortlisted applicants may also be required to undertake a written test.
Notification
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email.
Feedback
Due to the large number of applications received each year, Australia Awards is unable to provide tailored feedback. However, applicants are encouraged to revisit the eligibility criteria and priority sectors in subsequent years and, if eligible, reapply.
Information Centre
Australia Awards has a dedicated Information Centre with internet, computing and printing services available. The Centre also has resources on participating Australian institutions. The Centre is open from Monday to Friday 9.00am to 430pm. No appointment is necessary.
